Nissan 370Z NISMO Roadster at Chicago Auto Show

Fans of roofless motoring, rejoice! The Nissan 370Z NISMO Roadster concept car was revealed this morning at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, sporting the same great looks as the 370Z NISMO Coupe without the roof.

Although the concept was said to be only a design study, it would join the NISMO lineup if there’s enough interest. Similar to its roofed brother, it’s powered by a 3.7-liter V6 engine that churns out 350 horsepower to the rear wheels, and sticks to the road with a NISMO tuned suspension. For further improved handling, a strut tower brace has been added under the hood and the suspension includes special stabilizer bars and springs designed specifically for the NISMO trim. The 370Z also gets larger brakes and a Viscous Limited-Slip Differential that will work together to give drivers confidence in acceleration, handling, and braking.

This concept rocks the 7-speed automatic transmission with Downshift Rev Matching and Adaptive Shift Control. You can still pick your gears, however, thanks to the paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. The Z Roadster’s interior employs the iconic red stitching unique to NISMO cars along with fixed headrest bars that are wrapped in leather. Since this is a top-of-the-line Nissan, it’s packed with the technology you’d expect, including the Nissan Navigation System and 7″ VGA touch screen with premium Bose speakers and a RearView monitor.

The exterior gets a special NISMO body kit that not only improves the looks of the 370Z, but adds an aerodynamic advantage over lesser trims. Nissan also added black headlight bezels and Hyper LED Daytime Running Lights. Rear tires are 10.5 inches wide, giving the roadster an aggressive stance.

The 370Z NISMO Roadster joins a family of four other NISMO models: the GT-R NISMO, 370Z NISMO Coupe, Juke NISMO, and JUKE NISMO RS.
