Nissan Altima and Murano Roll Away With New J.D. Power Awards
When you are looking for an opinion on new cars while shopping, many consumers turn to J.D. Power and its awards. The global marketing information services company routinely runs studies and surveys to determine what cars on the road are the best to drive away with based on metrics that real people use to judge vehicles. This month, the Nissan Altima sedan and Nissan Murano SUV rolled away from the 2017 J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study as category winners.

The Nissan Murano was named the most appealing vehicle in the Midsize SUV category, and the Nissan Altima was king in the Midsize Car segment. The Nissan Rogue made a lot of progress in the Compact CUV category, boasting a 46-point improvement over its performance last year. The Nissan Maxima and Titan also did respectably in their categories, with the Titan winning second place in the Large Light Duty Pickup segment. Overall, Nissan as a brand rose 27 points over its 2016 results, moving the automaker well above the industry average score for both premium and non-premium brands.

The APEAL study is in its 22nd year in 2017. It asks purchasers and lessees of new vehicles to evaluate their new cars in 77 attributes to give the automaker a score on a scale of 1,000 points. The Nissan Altima scored an 826, two points ahead of second place, and the Murano scored 837, a whopping 8 points ahead of second place. If you are considering buying a new car, take J.D. Power’s advice and consider these Nissan vehicles.
