Nissan Beat the Crap out of the New Titan so You Don’t Have To
The new Titan looks pretty tough, but how will it perform in the real world? Nissan engineers made sure it’ll survive the roughest beating by torturing it themselves using all kinds of machines and other truck-breaking things like curbs, holes, and deep water. Kind of like Fifty Shades of Grey, but for trucks. Watch the video below to see what we mean:
In Nissan’s 4th episode of their “Titan Truckumentary,” they take the truck out to Arizona to drive it like a rental car over rough roads and bumps to check for squeaks and rattles and to simulate years of normal use. About a minute and a half in, they switch over to the testing center in Michigan, where the 2016 Titan is strapped to a machine that simulates bumpy roads and works the suspension to its limits.

They tested the Titan much longer than they normally test their other cars, and for good reason. As a pickup, the Titan will likely be submitted to more extreme situations under normal use than your run-of-the-mill Nissan Maxima. According to the engineers, the rough road machine simulates about 370,000 miles of constant driving.
The Titan is also subjected to a team of sadistic robots that open and slam the doors and hood repetitively to test for durability, simulating about 15 years of use. Engineers also drove it through a flooded pool and through deep holes and slammed it against curbs at all imaginable angles.
From the looks of the video, it seems that the Titan will be one of those trucks that will last well past 15 years when it’s put to work by your average American family.
