Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo

Video games today are populated with cars many of us can only dream of. The latest installment in the Gran Turismo franchiseGran Turismo Sport, is slated to be released in November. Nissan has historically been a close partner with the video game, even launching the GT Academy competition to bring the best video game drivers to a real track and real racing careers.

To celebrate the upcoming game, Nissan and other automakers brought vehicles to the Copper Box in Olympic Park, London for its launch. These vehicles were all concepts featured in the upcoming game, and is the largest gathering ever GT concept vision cars in one spot. Nissan’s contribution, the Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, is a pretty big departure from anything Nissan has on the market, but the automaker says that it is a preview of what Nissan could build in the future.

To create the Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, Nissan asked young designers to create the ultimate supercar for a theoretical Gran Turismo garage. One of the fantasy designs was contributed by the Nissan Design Europe team was given to an engineering team in Japan to build into a physical concept. The team added some design cues from current Nissan vehicles, like the chrome V on the grille and a trademark shade of red that is pure Nissan.

The Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo was first unveiled in June of 2014, and has made the rounds to some of Nissan’s biggest racing events. You can see the car in (digital) motion in the video from Nissan below. So far, this is the only physical 2020 Vision Gran Turismo ever built, but maybe in the future Nissan vehicles will look less like the ones we drive today and more like the ones in our video games.
