Nissan Concept Ready for the Silver Screen
The Nissan IDx Concept first captured the world’s attention at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2013. There were strong rumors that the concept would head to production as an inexpensive coupe with retro style, but pretty much all indicators point to the model being scrapped. You can still see some of its design cues in the new refreshed Nissan models hitting the market, and soon you’ll be able to see the car in action in the latest Fast and Furious film.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been posting like wildfire on his social media accounts to promote his latest film, Central Intelligence. While he’s promoting one movie, he’s also filming the next installment in the Furious franchise, lucky number eight. The eagle eyes at AutoGuide spotted the Nissan IDx concept hanging out with luxury cars like the Toyota Supra and Porsche 911.
In the video, Johnson refers to the IDx as a “$2 million Nissan prototype,” but the vehicle’s distinctive shape is not hard to identify. The Fast and Furious movies are known for having the best cars in the industry on display, mixing classic cars and new cars. It will be interesting to see what kind of role the Nissan IDx will have, as it could be presented as something that was built by a car customizer or as the concept car it is.

While Nissan announced that it had scrapped plans to take the car to production, perhaps if the new Fast and Furious film is a success the automaker would reconsider. We could see a car as dynamic as that ruling the road alongside more dramatic vehicles like the Dodge Charger or Challenger.
