Nissan Debuts New Models In China

Nissan has a great presence here in the United States, but as a global brand it produces many diverse models in other markets as well. At the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition, also known as Auto Shanghai, Nissan revealed three new models for the market, and we are pretty jealous. The Nissan Kicks crossover, Nissan X-Trail SUV, and the Nissan Navara pickup are all parked in the automaker’s booth to get acquainted with Chinese drivers.

Of the three models on display, the Nissan Kicks is the one without an American counterpart. This compact crossover began its life as a concept vehicle at the 2014 Sao Paulo International Motor Show in Brazil. In 2016, the production vehicle rolled out in Brazil as part of the Olympic celebration in Rio De Janeiro. The sporty crossover has a unique style without being quite as out there as the alien look of the Nissan Juke. Its brightly colored roof is a good pop of color to accompany the Nissan chrome “V” style grille. We were all hoping that the Kicks would come to America next, as a team of designers from Brazil and California created the original concept vehicle.

The Nissan Navara on display is a brother to the Nissan Frontier on sale now in the United States, so we can go see it for ourselves at a local dealership. The Nissan X-Trail shares a platform with the Nissan Rogue but they are different in other ways, making them more like cousins (The Nissan Rogue has closer ties to the European Nissan Qashqai).

The trio of vehicles is accompanied by the Nissan Vmotion 2.0 Concept to complete the display. We will let you know if any of these vehicles, or their technologies, make it to the US anytime soon.
