Just yesterday, Nissan finally revealed the three drivers who will pilot the Nissan GT-R GT3 Race Car at the Bathurst 12 Hour endurance race in Australia, just over two weeks away. Drivers Alex Buncombe, Katsumasa Chiyo, and Wolfgang Reip will share driving duties for the NISMO Athlete Global Team during the endurance race.

The NISMO team celebrated their 30th anniversary last year and enjoyed 42 wins globally, topped by a championship victory in the SUPER GT Championship.

Buncombe will be making his third appearance at Bathurst in 12 months and is the longest serving driver in Nissan’s GT3 program. Katsumasa Chiyo was part of the Nissan GT Academy Team RJN last year and raced throughout Europe in the Blancpain Endurance Series, which includes big races like the Nürburgring 24 Hours, Spa 24 Hours, and Macau GT Cup. Wolfgang Reip won the 2012 GT Academy contest in Europe, so this is his third year in motorsports, but he already has an impressive resume. He drove the first fully-electric lap at Le Mans and placed second at the 2014 British GT Championship.

The 2014 Bathurst 12 Hour race will take place on February 6th through the 8th. If you can’t watch the race, stay tuned to The News Wheel for a summary of the team’s performance.
