Nissan is a pioneer when it comes to electric vans, and the brand-new Nissan e-NV200 takes the bar even higher. Nissan introduced the e-NV200 at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, and this electric van does not disappoint. Nissan outdid themselves as they combined elements from two mulit-award winning vehicles: the Nissan LEAF and Nissan NV200.

The introduction of the e-NV200 brings unprecedented efficiency; with zero-emissions and low running-costs, the European van market has never seen anything quite like it. The all-electric drivetrain is based on the LEAF, which doesn’t produce any noise pollution or exhaust.

The all-electric van is designed for light commercial use; however, it’s also suitable for large families. It’s capable of driving 170 kilometers on a single charge, which is substantially farther than the 100 kilometer daily driving average of most business fleets that use this van. The e-NV200 is able to fully charge overnight, and while many businesses with electric fleets have their own charging station, more than 1,000 public chargers are available across Europe.

The addition of the Nissan e-NV200 alongside the LEAF means that Nissan is the first automaker to have two fully electric vehicles in their lineup. Director of Electric Vehicles for Nissan Europe, Jean-Pierre Diernaz, states in a recent news release, “We believe e-NV200 will genuinely change the make-up of light van and taxi fleets as well as changing the environment in the heart of our cities.”

Nissan is truly pushing the way for more affordable electric vehicles for real-world use, and we’re excited to see what’s next for the innovative carmaker.
