The annual Best Global Brands Study, conducted by Interbrand, a global consultancy, has landed Nissan as the 39th Best Global Brand (out of 100). This is a substantial jump from its 43rd ranked spot in 2016, and the seventh year in a row Interbrand has deemed Nissan “one of the world’s most valuable brands.”

In 2016 Nissan had an “an estimated brand value of $11.066 billion” and in 2017, Nissan is tipping the scales at $11.534 billion. In 2015, Nissan ranked 49th in the study.

“Brand power has been a consistent focus across the company for the last six years, and it’s very encouraging that all our efforts continue to be recognized by this influential brand ranking,” said Roel de Vries, corporate vice president and global head of marketing and brand strategy at Nissan. “The fact that we continue our growth proves that our activity focusing on Nissan Intelligent Mobility and our vision for the future of driving is appealing. With the launch of the new LEAF, we are hoping to see further improvement in our brand.”

The high-rank from Interbrand was a result of Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility projects, commitment to viable electric vehicles, and attention to autonomous driving technologies.

According to Nissan, “The recognition particularly reflects Nissan’s strengthened focus on Nissan Intelligent Mobility in the past year, in which the company launched new products featuring the e-POWER series hybrid system and ProPILOT single-lane autonomous driving technology. Nissan also showcased Nissan Intelligent Mobility at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January 2017. On Sept. 6, Nissan unveiled the new Nissan LEAF, the second generation of the world’s best-selling electric car.”

Making the study’s top 10 are Apple (in the number one spot) followed by Google, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, Amazon, Samsung, Toyota, Facebook, Mercedes-Benz, and IBM.
