LEAF Buyers in LA will get two years of free public charging with No Charge to Charge

Nissan News reports that Los Angeles is the latest city to be added to its “No Charge to Charge” program, which offers two years of free public charging with the purchase or lease of a new Nissan LEAF. Los Angeles now joins the 11 other top markets for LEAF sales where the promotion is also offered:  San Francisco, Sacramento, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Oregon, Nashville, Phoenix, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston and Washington, D.C.

LEAF buyers in LA are particularly fortunate, though, since owning a LEAF already nets them a California state tax rebate and single-occupant access to the high-occupancy vehicle lane.

“No Charge to Charge” gives eligible participants an EZ-Charge card which gives them access to chargers with Chargepoint, Blink, CarCharging, AeroVironment and NRG eVgo. Not all of the chargers that are available with an EZ-Charge card are participating in the program.

“Los Angeles has long been one of the world’s top markets for electric car sales,” stated the director of Nissan Electric Vehicle Sales and Infrastructure, Brendan Jones. “Adding free access to public fast charging in the LA market gives us a competitive edge over other vehicles, regardless of their fuel source.”

“No Charge to Charge” will launch at Nissan LEAF dealerships in the Los Angeles market on August 15. Customers who purchased or leased their LEAF on or after July 1, 2014, will be retroactively eligible.
