With the electric Nissan LEAF as the baseball team’s bullpen car, a new Nissan billboard with the words, “EVs made with Nissan technology,” featured at Yokohama Stadium, and Nissan’s 2017 sponsorship of the team, Nissan is ready to play ball.

A new sponsorship deal has brought Nissan and the Yokohoma DeNA BayStars back together again after nearly 20 years of being apart. In the 1990s, Nissan had the Be-1 and S-Cargo in attendance, and now the Nissan LEAF, a 100 percent electric vehicle with zero CO2 emissions, will represent Nissan’s dedication to “achieving zero emissions and zero fatalities on the road by developing technologies including electric vehicles and autonomous driving.”

The Nissan LEAF debuted in 2010 and has achieved global sales of 260,000 units to become the world’s best-selling electric vehicle, according to the Nissan Motor Corporation.

Through this sponsorship of the BayStars baseball team, Nissan is hoping to bring attention not only to its new technologies including electric vehicles and the Nissan Intelligent Mobility project, but also wishes to support the DeNA BayStars baseball team as they work to become Japan’s top team and earn the league title.

“We are very pleased to be returning to Yokohama Stadium, which is a symbol of the city where Nissan was founded,” said Nissan senior vice president Asako Hoshino. “We are excited to support the BayStars, who are set to deliver a strong performance this year, through this sponsorship program.”
