Nissan Maxima’s Engine Recognized by WardsAuto
The reasons to try out the all-new 2016 Nissan Maxima just keep stacking up. The vehicle has recently been awarded a Top Safety Pick Plus distinction from the IIHS, and now WardsAuto has named its engine one of the 10 best in the United States.
The “Wards 10 Best Engines” list has been a staple of the automotive world since it first debuted in 1994. Editors used October and November to evaluate this year’s batch of 31 new or upgraded powertrains. To be considered, the powertrain had to be slated for sale in the United States and be in a car with a base price under $61,000. The test was also purely on the powertrain, not the features or car as a whole, and was driven for everyday activities as part of testing. Noise attenuation, fuel economy, torque, and horsepower were the main factors considered in the decision.
The Nissan Maxima’s win is specifically for the 300 horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 engine. This is the 17th time that a Nissan engine has been recognized by WardsAuto, and the 15th award alone for the automaker’s VQ-series V6.
The Nissan team will be honored with the other engine manufacturers on January 13th in Detroit, Michigan.
