Nissan named former Hyundai COO Allan Rushforth Global Sales Chief

Nissan has announced former Hyundai Europe COO Allan Rushforth as its new global sales chief. He will serve as the company’s corporate VP for global sales and report to Chief Planning Officer Philippe Klein, who was recently appointed to the position in the wake of Andy Palmer’s departure.

“Allan’s past professional experience includes running sales operations in international markets and working across cultural boundaries,” Klein said. “Nissan is a company that values cultural diversity and Allan shares this and has demonstrated the ability to lead multicultural teams.”

Allan Rushforth will relocate from Frankfurt to Nissan global HQ in Yokohama, Japan.

Rushforth began his career in automotive in 1983 when he joined Rover as the Area Fleet Sales Manager in Birmingham. When BMW acquired Rover in 1995, he relocated to Gangnam and became the executive director of launch and operations for Land Rover of Korea, and eventually moved back to the UK to take the position of Sales Director for Land Rover from 1998-2000.

Rushforth joined Audi as its UK Retail Ops Director in 2000, and became a member of Volkswagen Group’s UK Board of Management and the UK Director of Group Services in 2005.

In 2007, Rushforth was appointed Vice President of Hyundai, where he will remain until his effective departure on October 21. Hyundai has yet to name a successor.
