From 1988 to 1991, Nissan dominated U.S. sports car racing, as the Japanese automaker won four consecutive driver’s championships, three manufacturer’s titles, and a total of 33 International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) races.  Now, Nissan is looking to return to those glory days with a new partnership that will bring NISMO back to American racing for 2014.

Nissan has partnered with the Muscle Milk Pickett Racing Team following back-to-back American Le Mans Series Championships.  The victorious team will now be powered by NISMO for the circuit’s inaugural TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

“We’re glad to welcome Muscle Milk Pickett Racing to the Nissan family and look forward to having our official drivers learn from such a successful team,” said Darren Cox, Nissan’s Global Motorsport Director, in a press release.

“We are also very proud to have brought Nissan back to the forefront of U.S. sports car racing. Our company has an incredible pedigree dating back to the old IMSA championship and I’m certain Nissan and NISMO will add to that history in the coming years.”
