New Nissan Design Studio Opens in Brazil
Last week in Rio de Janiero, Nissan inaugurated its new satellite design studio. The Nissan Design America Rio studio (NDA-R), located at Nissan’s Brazil headquarters, officially launched on Wednesday, August 13,2014, with NDA vice president Taro Ueda leading the opening ceremony.
Robert Bauer will be in charge of research and design at Brazil’s new Nissan design studio, leading a team of Brazilian design professionals in researching trends, materials, and styling.
“Brazil has been one of Nissan’s key markets for years and can offer new inspiration for the design of our products for Brazil as well as globally,” Ueda said. “Soon, you may see some results of the work done by this team in collaboration with other design centers around the world. Rio has a wonderful combination of vibrancy and diversity that represents the Brazilian culture and people, with each region being unique in its own way. This is an ideal location to establish a design studio.”
During his time in Brazil, Ueda met with local design students and professionals. He also spoke at Rio’s Instituto Europeo di Design and hosted a workshop at Nissan Brazil’s headquarters.
Nissan’s other design centers include locations in San Diego, London, and Beijing.
