Nissan Preparing For Grueling Nürburgring

Nissan at the Nürburgring 24 Hour

The Nürburgring is notorious for being one of Europe’s most difficult tracks, and this weekend Nissan is preparing to take on the Nürburgring 24 Hour endurance race. The automaker will be represented by three Nissan GT-Rs and for previous winners of the GT Academy competition in an attempt to emerge from the race triumphant.

Nissan believes that it has a good combination of luck and experience on its side, as the automaker has won trophies recently at Nürburgring during last year’s Blancpain Endurance Championship, the Pro-Am Driver’s Championship, and the Nürburgring 24 Hour in 2012. On the number 35 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 team, Lucas Ordóñez, Michael Krumm, Kazuki Hoshino, and Alex Buncombe will race for the Nissan GT Academy Team RJN.

Another GT-R, bearing the number 48, will take to the track driven by German racing team Zakspeed and its drivers Florian Strauss and Marc Gassner, both GT Academy winners, and veteran racer Tom Coronel. Lastly, Schulze Motorsports will drive a GT-R in the SP 8T class with another GT Academy winner behind the wheel, Jordan Tresson.

Driver Lucas Ordóñez remarked, “This is the most challenging, most exciting and toughest race in the world. Last year’s top 10 was an amazing result for NISMO, and I have a dream lineup of teammates again. Hopefully we can have a dream race like last year.”

If you’re interested in following the race, it will start at 3:30pm local time on Saturday, May 28th. In previous years, the race has been streamed live on YouTube, and potential race viewers should keep their eye on the site for another opportunity to watch this year.
