Nissan Presents Advanced Solutions for Autonomous Driving at CeBIT

Dedicated to propelling autonomous driving into the real world, Nissan showcased its advanced solutions and technology at CeBIT in Germany yesterday. This is Nissan’s first showing at CeBIT, the biggest digital show in Europe.
Taking Nissan’s center stage is the Seamless Autonomous Mobility (SAM) system, one of Nissan’s autonomous creations, which was also presented at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
According to Nissan, SAM was forged from NASA technology and combines human input with in-vehicle artificial intelligence to assist autonomous vehicles to determine what to do when faced with accidents, road construction, and further complications. SAM’s technology allows for the autonomous vehicle to determine if a situation warrants human interference. According to Nissan, being able to work through surprising conditions and circumstances will be essential to a successful and completely-realized future where autonomous driving is the norm.
“Autonomous drive technologies are set to revolutionize the future of mobility, providing more safety, convenience and driving pleasure for everyone,” said Ponz Pandikuthira, vice president Product Planning, Nissan Europe, in a statement. “These systems will guarantee a drastic reduction in road traffic accidents and that’s a key part of Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility blueprint as we strive towards a zero emissions, zero fatalities future.”
Nissan’s debut at CeBIT is another demonstration of Nissan’s perseverance of bringing autonomous technology to the forefront. It was just a month ago that Nissan shared real-world testing of its autonomous driving innovations. Equipping the electric Nissan LEAF with its autonomous driving technology, Nissan showed more than the 100 industry stakeholders, public officials, and media personnel present just what its tech could do on a London public road.
According to a release from Nissan, the company has “also confirmed that phase one of its innovative ProPILOT autonomous drive technology will be made available in the new Nissan Qashqai launching in FY17 and the second-generation model of the Nissan LEAF coming soon. This technology enables single lane autonomous driving on motorways and is already available on the Nissan Serena, which was launched in Japan last year.”
