With Dad Super Bowl Commercial

During Super Bowl XLIX, Nissan aired its first Super Bowl ad in a decade, titled “With Dad.” The 90-second spot covered the challenges of being a race car driver and a father to the backdrop of Harry Chapin’s famous “Cat’s In The Cradle” song, and revealed two new Nissan cars: the 2016 Maxima and the GT-R LM NISMO race car. The ad ended up being the most popular of all the ads shown and won this year’s YouTube AdBlitz contest as the fans’ Favorite Super Bowl Commercial of 2015. Watch the ad below:

Nissan has now revealed how it made this award-winning commercial in a seven-minute video found at the end of this article. All of the race scenes were filmed at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, including the scenes with the GT-R LM NISMO race car, which was still undergoing testing and was being kept a secret from the prying eyes of the public.

Race scenes like this were filmed at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

The crash scene had to be a one-shot take since they were actually wrecking two race cars, so it was practiced many times until perfection was achieved. The commercial also concludes with the GT-R LM NISMO winning Le Mans, which just happens to be its debut race after it withdrew from the first two races of the series to continue testing. We’ll see if the prophesy comes true in June.
