Nissan Scores 100A in CDP Global 500 Report
Nissan has earned a perfect score of 100A in the CDP Global 500 Climate Change Report 2014, marking its second year among the world’s foremost leaders in eco-friendliness.
Nissan was among a few top responders awarded a perfect score of “100” in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) for its extensive information disclosure about its environmental performance and corporate governance practices. It received the highest “A” rating in performance in the Climate Performance Leadership Index (CPLI) for its demonstrated actions to reduce CO2 emissions in its vehicle manufacturing processes.
Nissan also received special commendation in the report for setting a target past the year 2020. Nissan has laid out a plan to reduce emissions by 24% by 2050.
Nissan reduced CO2 emissions by 2% despite increasing vehicle production by 5.1% last year, and it reduced CO2 emissions generated through corporate activities by 15.4 percent in FY2013.
Nissan has been long recognized as a leader of green driving innovation, thanks in part to the continued success of the LEAF EV. This past September, Nissan served as the presenting sponsor of National Drive Electric Week and announced that it had sold more than 60,000 LEAFs in the United States. Just last week, Nissan was named the most improved and most fuel-efficient fuel line automaker by the Environmental Protection Agency in its 2014 “Trends” Report.
