Nissan TITAN lands association with renowned whitewater kayaker, kayak builder and pro fisherman Eric JacksonNissan has several well-publicized connections with the sports world. It is a main sponsor of Nashville’s new professional soccer team, it sponsors soccer’s UEFA Champions League, it played a big role in last year’s Rio Olympics, and it works together with the Heisman winners for charitable giving, just to name a few things. Traditionally these partnerships have featured Nissan cars and SUVs, but not its truck lineup. In recent months Nissan has worked hard to make to follow up its “Year of the Truck” in the hopes of getting a larger share of the immense market for pickup trucks in the United States. To help show that the Nissan Titan is ready to keep up with American life, the brand has formed a partnership with kayak builder, whitewater kayaker, and pro fisherman Eric Jackson.

The new sponsorship was announced by Nissan and Jackson at the annual International Convention of Allied Sport Fishing Trades (ICAST) in Orlando, Florida. Eric will have the use of a new Nissan Titan XD full-size pickup truck to take to professional appearances and competitions. Considering that Jackson needs to move his kayak and all of its equipment from place to place, the larger truck is more than capable of keeping up with his hectic schedule.

“It’s a rare occasion when Eric Jackson is not on a lake fishing or navigating the most treacherous whitewater rapids,” said Fred Diaz division vice president and general manager, North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc. “We’re proud that he has selected TITAN XD as his wheels of choice. With its powerful Cummins 5.0-liter V8 Turbo Diesel engine, and the security of America’s best truck warranty, he might even be convinced to spend a little more time on terra firma.”

Considering that Eric Jackson has won more than 100 international freestyle kayaking events and has even participated in the Olympics with Team USA, this partnership can go a long way towards showing the more adventurous crowd that the Nissan Titan XD is a good fit for them. Regardless of how many new buyers he attracts, Jackson is sure to put the Titan XD through its paces.
