Maserati reveals the Levante at the New York International Auto Show

Earlier this month, Italian luxury and sports car maker Maserati revealed its first-ever SUV at the Geneva Motor Show to much acclaim. Today, the Levant made its North American debut at the 2016 New York International Auto Show, ahead of its release next month.

The new Maserati Levante houses a 345-hp 3.0-liter V6 engine under the hood; that horsepower rating increases to 424 in the top-of-the-line S models. All Levante models come with an eight-speed automatic transmission and three driving modes: Normal, Sport, and Off-Road. Maserati claims that the Levante’s double-wishbone front suspension, multi-link rear suspension, and mechanical self-locking rear differential will make the SUV as smooth to drive as other models in the automaker’s lineup, such as the Ghibli (upon which the Levante is based), Quattroporte, GranTurismo, and GranCabrio.

Standard features for the base Levante include all-wheel drive, adaptive air suspension, leather trim, an 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation, hands-free power tailgate, heated and ventilated front seats, dual zone temperature control, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with brake assist, a surround view camera, and lane departure warning.

The Levante, which will go on sale in the US in April, will come with a starting MSRP of $72,000 for the base model and $83,000 for the top-level S model.
