Mercedes-Benz has been on a roll throughout 2014, but it appears that the best could be yet to come. October Mercedes sales were the highest that the automaker has seen to date this year with a total of 28,593 vehicles before even taking into account sales of 2,140 SPRINTER vans and 585 smart cars.

Although October represented Mercedes’ biggest volume month, it still marked a 4.9% year-over-year dip. To-date sales, however, remain steadily ahead of the 2013 clip with 261,804 Mercedes-Benz vehicles sold (+6.8% YoY) and 290,394 vehicles sold across all three brands (+7.7% YoY).

“We’re building momentum month after month, working toward a record year despite the challenges posed by spot shortages in some of our most popular model lines,” said Stephen Cannon, president and CEO of MBUSA.

As ever, the Mercedes brand was led by the C-, E-, and M-Class models. C-Class sales were up 13.2% with 7,412 units sold, the E-Class lineup added in 3,936 vehicles, and M-Class sales leapt 22% year-over-year with 3,797 vehicles.

Sales of Mercedes-Benz AMG models were up 71.6% in October with 1,251 units sold, and BlueTEC diesel models contributed 1,028 sales.

Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned vehicles accounted for a whopping 9,834 sales, up 29.2% year-over-year.
