The Mercedes-Maybach S 650 Cabriolet was first revealed to the public at the 2016 LA Auto Show

Mercedes hasn’t announced pricing for its new Maybach, but it will undoubtedly be at least six digits

Mercedes-Benz shocked car lovers around the world earlier this year when it unleashed the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 coupe during Monterey Car Week.

While the Maybach 6 was nothing more than a concept vehicle meant to showcase the brand’s extraordinary design abilities, it did hint that more specialized Maybach models could be on the way and the German automaker confirmed this suspicion at AutoMobility LA.

The newest member of the Maybach lineup is the 2017 Mercedes-Maybach S 650 cabriolet. The release of this vehicle marks the first time Mercedes has produced a Maybach convertible.

Based on the Mercedes-AMG S65 cabriolet, the new S 650 differentiates itself thanks to a revised front bumper that’s accented in chrome. In addition, the Maybach S 650 comes equipped with 20-inch forged wheels that feature a bichromatic finish.

On the inside of the S 650 you’ll find a fully-leather trimmed cabin and seats that come with a waterfall theme. Other notable features from the cabin include an Airscarf neck-level heating system, wood veneer dash accents, and a piano black lid for the central storage compartment.

There are three unique color schemes offered with this new Maybach. The first is Zircon Red paint and Porcelain leather. The next features a combination of Cote d’Azur Blue paint with Porcelain and saddle brown leather. The final option is Designo Diamond White paint with a porcelain and Yacht Blue cabin.

Powering the new S 650 is a 6.0-liter V12 engine good for 621 horsepower and 739 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a 7G-TRONIC seven-speed automatic transmission, which sends power to the rear wheels. The Mercedes-Maybach S 650 cabriolet is expected to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in approximately four seconds and hit an electronically-controlled top speed of 155 mph.

If you’re already thinking about ordering the S 650, then you better act fast because Mercedes announced production of the car will be limited to just 300 units, with only 75 of those coming to US shores. This makes the Mercedes-Maybach S 650 one of the most exclusive convertibles on the planet.

On a positive note, those people who are lucky enough to get one will also receive a special certificate signed by Dieter Zetsche, as well as a custom car cover and four-piece luggage set.
