Santa Tracking though OnStar

OnStar announced this week that its millions of customers in the United States, Canada, and Mexico will be able to track the location of Jolly Ol’ St. Nick this holiday by simply pressing their OnStar blue button.

General Motors is teaming with the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) to bring the latter’s 60-year Santa-tracking experience to customers who drive Buick, Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GMC vehicles in North America. This marks the seventh year that OnStar will offer the unique service to its customers.

Santa’s location will be available between 6am Christmas Eve and 5am Christmas morning. For every Santa location call it receives during that period, OnStar will donate one dollar to the United Way for South East Michigan and United Way Mexico. In 2014, more than $2,600 was donated to both organizations.

“The holiday season is all about spreading cheer, giving back to the community and connecting with others,” said Terry Inch, OnStar chief operating officer. “OnStar has become a key enabler for that. Our advisors really enjoy playing the role of Santa’s helper and sharing the joy of Christmas with our subscribers.”

As an added bonus, OnStar subscribers are being offered complementary copies of “The Night Before Christmas” from Audiobooks.com. The free audiobook is available through an email link sent from an OnStar advisor. If you have a Buick, you can cash in another offer for two additional free audio books.
