Opel has now made it possible for drivers to remotely set destinations for navigating through the use of the myOpel app, which interacts with an Opel vehicle’s onboard navigation system without a user needing to even be in the vehicle.

Through myOpel, a user can enter their desired destination on their smartphone and send it directly to their Opel. The app also offers a vehicle location function, which now offers the ability to add photos or comments to help with the task of finding where they parked. Additionally, myOpel features a parking timer that notifies drivers when the meter is about to run out.

“The customer appeal of our Opel OnStar personal connectivity and service assistant just gets stronger and stronger,” says Tina Müller, Chief Marketing Officer of the Opel Group. “With the cool new Send Destination function and the helpful enhancements to Vehicle Location, the myOpel smartphone app offers Opel OnStar users more convenience and even higher peace of mind.”

Other features available through myOpel include remote horn-honking or light-flashing for easier vehicle location, access to vehicle diagnostics including oil and tire air levels, a digital copy of the owner’s manual, and Wi-Fi hotspot management for users in Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Spain.

The myOpel app is available as a free download for Android and iOS smartphone users. Opel OnStar is currently offered on passenger cars sold in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland, and as Vauxhall OnStar in the United Kingdom. Opel will add OnStar in 18 new countries by 2016.
