The new Opel Astra is very, very neat. It’s so neat that one can’t help but think that GM would make a killing if it ported its little hatchback to the US and put a tri-shield on it (and they very well may be considering it). As if there wasn’t already enough evidence that the Astra would be a hit with US buyers, and that it’s going to wind up being a massive hit with European shoppers, the Astra is being touted as having best-in-class total cost of ownership among entry level compact cars.
