Opel’s 2015 sales in Europe (including Vauxhall sales in the UK) were they best that they have been in four years, even as the brand continues its Russian pullout. Sales figures put Opel’s European sales at 1.1 million vehicles sold, reflective of a 35,000-unit/3.3% year-over-year increase from 2014.

Opel’s market share was up for a third straight year in 2015, totaling 5.8%. Opel’s closing market share in 2015 is also the highest the brand has seen since 2011. Opel officials are confident that the brand’s sales and market share will only increase further in 2016.

“2015 was the best year for Opel since 2011 thanks to our product offensive. We have increased our volume and our market share and are optimistic that we will be able to continue this success in 2016,” said Peter Christian Küspert, Vice President Sales & Aftersales of the Opel Group. “The reason for optimism is partially driven by the new Opel Astra. It has already been ordered more than 80,000 times despite only arriving at dealerships in most European markets during the course of November. And we expect a lot from the Sports Tourer variant that will be produced as of spring 2016.”

Opel notes that sales volume was up in 20 markets this year, and that market share was up in 10 markets. Commercial sales for the Opel/Vauxhall brands were over 100,000 units, up 24% from 2014’s sales. Registrations for the Mokka were up 16%, and Corsa registrations were up 6%.
