Opel and Vauxhall’s new pan-European Customer Contact Centre in Luton

Vauxhall and Opel this month are opening up a brand-new pan-European Customer Contact Centre, located in Luton. The addition of the state-of-the-art facility brings approximately 300 new jobs to the town in Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas, and it adds an additional layer of service and support for the automakers’ customers and retailers across the continent.

The Customer Contact Centre will offer support for 33 countries, including the following: Austria, Netherlands, Luxemburg, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Russia, Poland, Finland, Turkey, Albania, Bosnia Herzogovina, Macedonia, Hungary, Romania, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, and the United Kingdom. Among the responsibilities of its agents are vehicle diagnostics, order tracking, and field reports, making the Customer Contact Centre the singular stop for information for Opel and Vauxhall customers across the bulk of Europe.

According to General Motors, the Customer Contact Centre will handle upwards of 750,000 contacts every year. It joins Vauxhall’s other operations in the town of Luton, including its world headquarters and a manufacturing plant responsible for the production of the automaker’s award-winning Vivaro vans.

General Motors specifically chose Luton as a hub for manufacturing, business, and now service largely due to its ethnic diversity, which facilitates the process of finding multi-lingual employees to speak with customers across Europe.

“This is a fantastic move for our business,” said Rory Harvey, Chairman and Managing Director, Vauxhall Motors. “Having a multi-lingual, cutting-edge team working within hi-tech facilities, will empower staff to focus on operational excellence.”
