So, hey, here’s something surprising: Subaru set a new monthly record for sales in the United States. That, like, never happens.

Subaru notched its 65th consecutive month of year-over-year growth in April with deliveries totaling 52,368 vehicles, a 4% increase from April 2016 and the brand’s best April in its history. April also marked 38 straight months of both 10,000 or more Outbacks sold and more than 40,000 total vehicles sold, as well as the 45th straight month of sales exceeding 10,000 units for the Forester.

“With positive press reaction to the all-new Impreza and upcoming Crosstrek models, we expect even stronger demand as we enter the summer months,” said Thomas J. Doll, president and chief operating officer, Subaru of America, Inc. “2017 looks set to be our tenth year of consecutive sales growth, with more new product to come.”

“Despite a more competitive market, we’re proud of our retailer’s ability to increase sales volume and market share,” said Jeff Walters, senior vice president of sales. “We are well positioned for continued success with our crossover models, as well as record sales volume from the all-new Impreza.”

Forester sales led the way at 14,761 units, up 1.9% year-over-year. Outback sales were up 1.2% at 14,469 units and Impreza sales shot up 66.2% to top 8,000 units for the second time in its history.

Year-to-date, Subaru’s sales are up 7.6% at 196,618 units delivered; Outback sales are up 10.6% at 57,041 units, Forester is up 6.3% at 56,237 units, and Impreza sales are up 41.3% at 26,622 deliveries.
