Outlander PHEV Wins Towcar of the Year Award for Innovation
The Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV just keeps winning awards, piling on a Towcar of the Year Award for Innovation for its hybrid-electric powertrain.
“We are very grateful to the Caravan Club for recognizing the plug-in Outlander with its special award for innovation,” said Mitsubishi Motors’ General Manager for Press, Public Affairs, and Events upon accepting the award.
In Towcar’s assessment, the Outlander PHEV earned three out of five stars for towing and practicality and four stars for solo and buying and owning purposes (presumably cost-to-own), earning it an overall four out of five stars. Towcar called it “a great car for the right driver,” highlighting its ability to go 32.5 miles on electric power alone.
Mitsubishi has been enjoying quite a bit of success on the awards circuit thus far with the Outlander PHEV: it’s already won “Best Green Development” at the Techie Awards, “Best Alternative Fuel Vehicle” by Diesel Car, and it’s already the UK’s best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle.
The Outlander PHEV is powered by a hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.0-liter engine with an electric motor to create an estimated fuel economy of 148 combined mpg with CO2 emissions around 44g/km.
