Hyundai PassoCorto Concept Production Chances Unlikely

Every once in awhile, the car industry gives us a car that practically oozes sexiness. This year, that car comes from an unexpected brand—Hyundai. Yeah, we’ll repeat that for those of you who may not believe us: the sexiest car of the year thus far came from none other than Hyundai. Shaking its typical economy car styling, Hyundai introduced the PassoCorto concept car at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show, turning heads and gathering a crowd during the brand’s press conference.

Designed through a collaboration of Hyundai’s European design center and design students at the Isituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Turin, Italy, the concept car represents the students’ thoughts on what Generation Y buyers are going to want to buy—and boy, were they right. The PassoCorto is a lightweight two-seater, featuring a rear-engine powertrain with a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that cranks out 270 horsepower.

While there’s no denying the car’s sex appeal—not to mention its killer performance—chances of the PassoCorto concept car production occurring are slim. However, Hyundai’s choice to showcase this sports car design might mean that they’re looking to add a much more appealing sports car to their arsenal.

Should Hyundai make their stance on PassoCorto Concept car production less like the generation of buyers at which it is aimed—that’s to say, should they procrastinate less and be more motivated ? (Sorry, Gen Y-ers.)
