Hyundai has just released information on the highly-anticipated 2015 edition of the beloved Accent.
Last year, the Accent won two J.D. Power & Associates accolades: “Highest Ranked Small Car in Initial Quality” in Initial Quality and “Most Appealing Small Car” in Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout—the first time a non-premium brand has taken both titles in the same year.
Now, the subcompact follows up its award-winning 2014 year with plenty of confident updates. With an enticing base price of $14,745, we’re ready for a 2015 Hyundai Accent overview of what customers will see in dealerships this October.

What’s New for the 2015 Hyundai Accent?
With three trim levels being updated for maximum value this year, there are almost too many new features to name. The highlighted additions include 16-inch alloy and 14-inch steel wheels covers, reversed LCD auto display, standard exterior temperature display, and packaging updates like the Popular Equipment Package for GLS.
You’ll notice that the Accent SE has been renamed the Accent Sport, which sounds a bit redundant considering how sporty the Accent already is. The offered model trims include:
- GLS sedan automatic or manual
- GS hatchback automatic or manual
- Sport manual or hatchback
As always, Hyundai boasts its 10-year / 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
2015 Hyundai Accent Exterior
Likely the first qualities anyone will notice are the restyled grille, headlights, and taillights on the Accent. The grinning front fascia can be seen on all three trim options, while the special headlights are offered with GLS/GS and special taillights with the GLS version only. Exterior color options include Vitamin C, Pacific Blue, and Misty Beige.
2015 Hyundai Accent Performance
The 2015 Hyundai Accent features leading performance numbers in its subcompact class, including an extremely low weight-to-power ratio of 18.1 lbs-hp, a high horsepower rate of 137, and 123 lb-ft torque. This sets it above competitors including Chevy, Honda, Ford, Nissan, and Mazda. Pair the SHIFTRONIC® steering technology with low-rolling resistance silica tires that reduce friction, and you’ve got one of the best-performing subcompact cars out there.
2015 Hyundai Accent Efficiency
The Hyundai Accent already has fans thanks to the highly-lauded all-aluminum 1.6-liter Gamma four-cylinder engine it’s touted for years. Utilizing Hyundai’s Active ECO system, EPA-estimated rates vary between model versions, but land between 26-30 city and 35-38 highway.
Those ratings are due to the use of Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI), which the Accent is the first subcompact to feature. Also, the Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (D-CVVT) maximizes efficiency and delivers 86 horsepower per liter.
Plus, we can’t forget that low curb weight!
2015 Hyundai Accent Interior
You’ll see some special additions to the Accent’s interior, including new fabric patterns (beige, gray, and black) and hot tech. Drivers can now enjoy the high-contrast LCD display and exterior temperature display. Plus, that class-leading cargo room of 21.2 cubic feet sure is nice.
2015 Hyundai Accent Safety
Hyundai put a lot of attention on the new Accent’s safety, including six airbags—a lot for such a small car. Drivers and passengers will also be kept safe with front-seat active head restraints, collision load dispersion (which disperses the force of impact), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) that offers control in slippery situations.
