[PHOTOS] 2016 Buick Encore Sport Touring Revealed
Buick today announced that the 2016 Encore will feature a Sport Touring trim. The 2016 Encore Sport Touring will be noticeably different from all other trims with unique exterior touches (namely winged rear spoiler, 18-inch aluminum premium-finish wheels, and body-color door handles), but the biggest difference will be the addition of a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine beneath the hood.
Buick has long been rumored to drop a new, more-muscular powertrain into the Encore, and with 153 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque, the Encore Sport Touring’s engine fits the bill quite nicely. The 1.4-liter turbo is lighter and more efficient thanks to an aluminum cylinder block and head, and automatic stop/start technology will also help reduce overall fuel consumption.
“Encore is a driving force behind Buick’s expansion and a catalyst for introducing a new generation of customers to the brand,” said Duncan Aldred, U.S. vice president of Buick. “The all-new Encore Sport Touring broadens that base, giving customers more choices – along with more performance, more technology and more efficiency.”
Hitting dealerships this fall, the 2016 Buick Encore Sport Touring will also come standard with rearview camera, IntelliLink voice-activated infotainment system with seven-inch-diagonal screen, OnStar 4G LTE with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, and heated outside rearview mirrors with built-in signal indicators. More information will be revealed closer to release.
