[PHOTOS] 2016 Chevrolet Equinox Revealed
The 2016 Chevrolet Equinox has been revealed, as was largely predicted, as a retouched version of the current generation model that adds just enough to keep Chevy’s compact SUV relevant in an increasingly crowded marketplace.
“Chevrolet Equinox is a pillar of the compact SUV segment, thanks to a value rooted in great style, efficiency, safety and connectivity,” said Alan Batey, president, GM North America. “The enhancements to the 2016 Equinox make a versatile vehicle an even better choice, and demonstrate Chevrolet’s commitment to delivering the broadest lineup of SUVs in the industry.”
Scheduled to hit showrooms in the fall, the 2016 Equinox adds an all-new face and a chrome-accented grille more in line with the newly-released Trax; premium projector-beam headlamps; standard Color Touch and rear vision camera; and available Saddle Up interior color
Chevrolet also opts to trim the lineup for 2016, axing the 1LT and 2LT trims to create a four model lineup. Across the L, LS, LT, and LTZ models, Chevy will make additional features available including everything from 17-inch aluminum wheels on the LT to chrome trim on the front and rear fascias for the LTZ.
“The new face of the Equinox is highlighted by a more expressive execution of chrome accents and premium lighting,” said John Cafaro, executive director of design, global Chevrolet cars. “The result is a modern exterior that’s matched inside with premium features on all trim levels, complementing the Equinox’s enhanced technology and functionality.”
The 2.4-liter Ecotec remains standard with the 3.6-liter V6 available for the LT and LTZ models. Chevy MyLink comes standard at the LT and LTZ levels, and OnStar with 4G LTE and built-in Wi-Fi is available across all trims.
