[PHOTOS] Check Out These New 2015 Easter Jeep Safari Concepts Headed for Moab
Each year, Jeep takes a number of concept models to what is arguably the best off-road event in the country: the Easter Jeep Safari at Moab, Utah. Last year, Jeep took six Moab Easter Jeep Safari Concepts for the 48th annual event, which ran from April 13th through the 20th. This year, Jeep has upped the ante to seven new 2015 Easter Jeep Safari concepts, all of which will dominate the trails from March 28th through April 5th.
According to Jeep, thousands of die-hard off-roaders attend the event each year, which is good exposure for these seven new concepts. Last week, Jeep teased two of the seven concepts for the 49th Annual Easter Jeep Safari, but now we’ve got full details (and photos) of the new Jeep Moab concepts.

The Jeep Chief Concept

The Jeep Chief concept, though based on the Wrangler, is meant as a tribute to the 1970s era Jeep Cherokee. Jeep gave the concept a surfer vibe with a vintage Ocean Blue exterior color and the white, French Bread roof. Other notable exterior design features for the Jeep Chief include halogen headlamps, a custom modified razor grilled (which made the Wagoneer famous), chrome front and rear bumpers, removable sides, and 17-inch clotted mag wheels.

Inside, the surfer vibe continues with a Hawaiian theme. The seats are leather-trimmed and feature cloth with flower patters (in “Surfer” pink, blue, and white). Jeep also used vintage-style surf stickers, a tiki-style shifter handle, and a Rosewood front-passenger grab handle to supplement the tropical theme. The Easter Jeep Safari Concept also boasts a Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen media center.
Boosting its off-road capabilities are a number of Jeep Performance Parts, including modified Rubicon rock rails, cold air intake, and a two-inch lift kit featuring Fox shocks and front and rear Dana 44 axles with lockers. A 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, matched to a six-speed manual gearbox, motivates the Jeep Chief Concept.

Like the Chief, the Wrangler Red Rock Responder concept is based on the current Jeep Wrangler. The purpose of this Jeep Safari concept is to be a support vehicle, in case of any off-roading emergencies. It carries a number of spare parts and tools that are stored quite easily in its cargo box. The Red Rock Responder sits on 37-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM2 tires. Capability also benefits from Fox shocks, 4 inches of JPP lift, and rear Dana 60 axles with 5.38 gearing, courtesy of Jeep Performance Parts. The Wrangler Red Rock Responder sports a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 under the hood.
As an added bonus, the concept boasts prototype off-road rock rails, a Warn winch, a cold air intake, and Wrangler Rubicon 10th Anniversary Edition steel front and rear bumpers and high-top fenders. The Responder also benefits from side cargo boxes that hold a number of tools, first aid kits, and accessories.
Vibrance Responder Red exterior paint makes this bad boy easy to spot. Beyond the paint, the exterior is also marked by a 10th Anniversary hood with hydraulic hood props and 17-inch beadlock wheels. LED was used for the headlamps, foglamps, A-pillar lamps, and off-road lamps.
The interior features embroidered black and red Mopar Katzkin leather seats and all-weather floor mats.

The Jeep Staff Car is an open-air Wrangler meant as a tribute to Jeep military service vehicles. It’s got a minimalist design that features a “hungry horse” stretched canvas roof. Perhaps most noteworthy are the bench seats commonly featured in vintage military Jeeps.
Under the hood lurks a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, mated to a six-speed manual tranny. Capability is enhanced with a 2-inch lift kit that features Fox shocks and front and rear Dana 44 axles, from Jeep Performance parts.
Jeep used a Sandstorm exterior paintjob for the Staff Car. The color continues to the wheels, frame, and axle, though noticeably there are no doors or B-pillars to include the paint on. The exterior also boasts Jeep J8 front and rear bumpers, military-style round headlamps, a rear-mount spare tire and vintage military gas can, and a fender-mounted blackout lamp with guards. This Easter Safari concept rides on 16-inch wheels with massive 35-inch Firestone NDT military tires.
The interior continues the minimalist theme. In addition to the benches, the Staff Car’s interior includes a painted steel floor (instead of carpet) and a built-in cooler that holds up to 85 cans—no beer, of course.

Based on the Jeep Cherokee, the Canyon Trail adds Mopar and Jeep Performance Parts for a better off-road experience. Included in that are a two-piece fuel tank skid plate, oil pan and front suspension skid plates, JPP off-road rock rails, two-piece underbody skid plate, and 17-inch painted wheels that sport BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A tires, for a half inch of lift. A 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir2 I-4, matched with a nine-speed automatic transmission, powers what is arguably one of the most impressive of the 2015 Easter Jeep Safari concepts.
The exterior features Desert Tan exterior paint and a Satin Black hood with a topographical hood decal depicting Hell’s Revenge, a trail in Moab. Inside, the Canyon Trail sports Mopar Katzkin leather seat covers and accent stitching. On the Jeep Performance Parts side of things, there are body color bezel accents, the Jeep Cargo Management System, and all-weather floor mats, among other features.

Based on the four-door Wrangler, the Wrangler Africa concept is the ultimate back-country off-roader. It’s got a 2.8-liter diesel engine, 17-inch body color steel wheels (paired with 35-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain Tires), power step rock rails, an extended rear body, a high-top roof, and a high-clearance steel front bumper with winch. What’s more, this bad boy sports fender-mounted auxiliary fuel cans.
Painted Desert Tan like the Canyon Trail, the Africa concept sports sway bar links, front and rear Dana 44 axles, and a two-inch lift kit with Fox shocks.

Based on—you guessed it—the all-new Jeep Renegade, the Desert Hawk concept boasts a topographical hood decal (this time, showcasing the Fins and Things Moab trail), as well as off-road rock rails and a skid plate from Jeep Performance Parts and a roof rack and trailer hitch receiver from Mopar. The outside is painted Desert Tan, but the interior features Mopar’s Katzkin seat covers and all-weather floor mats.
The Renegade Desert Hawk is motivated by a 2.4-liter Tigershark engine, paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox with Jeep Active Drive Low.

The final Easter Jeep Safari concept headed to Moab next Saturday is the Jeep Grand Cherokee Overlander. This concept is meant for off-roaders who camp right out of their vehicles on expeditions. Decked out in Sage Green paint, the Overlander’s exterior features a one-off front fascia, tow hooks, SRT taillamps and hood, off-road rock rails, an integrated front winch, larger wheel flares, front and rear skid plates, and 18-inch milled wheels with BF Goodrich All-terrain T/A tires. Also featured on the Cherokee Outlander concept is a durable spray-in truck bed coating for the roof, as well as a two-person hard-shell rooftop tent.

A 3.0-liter diesel V6 powers the concept. It is mated to an eight-speed Torqueflight transmission.
