[Photos] Chevy Announces New Tahoe Custom Trim for 2018 Model Year
Chevrolet has announced the addition of the Tahoe Custom trim to the SUV’s 2018 lineup, aimed at pulling in SUV shoppers who want a combination of power, value, and style. The 2018 Chevy Tahoe Custom will carry a starting price of $44,995, which includes a $1,295 destination fee.
“The Tahoe Custom is a response to strong customer demand for Tahoe, as well as the full-size SUV segment moving upmarket,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks marketing director. “In the past five years, the average transaction price for the segment has climbed fueled by customer appetite for features like heated and cooled seats, adaptive cruise control, and a head-up display. This created an unmet need in the marketplace for customers who want the cargo and towing capability of a full-size SUV to go camping, boating, or off-roading but don’t necessarily want all of the option content offered on a Tahoe Premier.”
Thus, the 2018 Chevy Tahoe Custom was conceived. Based on the Tahoe LS trim and available in both 2WD and 4WD configurations, the Tahoe Custom adds aesthetic features including 18-inch painted aluminum wheels, chrome-accented grille, and all-season tires while yanking out the third-row seating to provide 54 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the second row to up total utility to 112 cubic feet of space. It will be powered by the 5.3-liter V8 engine, which provides 335 horsepower, standard 6,600-pound max towing capacity, and a best-in-class EPA rating of 23 highway mpg.
Other noteworthy features include a Rear Seat Reminder, eight-inch color touchscreen, OnStar 4G LTE with build-in Wi-Fi hotspot, and a rear-vision camera.
The 2018 Chevy Tahoe Custom is expected to arrive at dealerships beginning in September.
