2017 Mazda3

Mazda released details on the 2017 Mazda3 this month to coincide with its release in Japan, where it is better known as the Mazda Axela, and its launch in the United States later this fall.

Aesthetically speaking, there isn’t much different with the 2017 model compared to the previous iterations of the KODO:  Soul of Motion look. The grille, bumpers, and fog lights are ever-so-slightly restyled in such a way that it more closely resembles the look of the new CX-3, and the interior features a new steering wheel, improved center console, and the addition of an electronic parking brake.

The biggest update for the Mazda3, and the biggest compliment to the concept of Jinba Ittai, will be the addition of G-Vectoring Control. Announced for the 2017 Mazda3 after debuting on the forthcoming 2017 Mazda6, G-Vectoring is the first component of SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS, a series of technological advancements that will improve the driving experience by fine-tuning and honing the engine, transmission, chassis, and body.

Mazda also implied in the announcement of the new Mazda3 that it will be offered with other, yet-unnamed design and equipment upgrades. As ever, it will be offered in hatchback and sedan bodystyles.

“Mazda is striving to become an irreplaceable presence in the lives of our customers, to create a special bond with them, and to be a ‘one-and-only’ brand they will choose again and again,” said Masamichi Kogai, Mazda’s President and CEO. “In order to do that, we will continue updating our models with next-generation technologies based on our human-centered development philosophy, without concern for the timing of redesigns.”

Another great way to become an irreplaceable presence would be for Mazda to go ahead with a Mazdaspeed3, but that’s none of our business. *Kermit tea sip*
