What sounds better than a supercar so exclusive that the manufacturer required potential buyers to fill out an application for the chance to own one of around 400 units produced? How’s a somehow even more limited version of that same supercar sound? That’s what you’ve got with the Ford GT Competition Series, an even more track-ready version of the already obscenely powerful GT that you absolutely have zero chance of ever owning.

Have You Considered a Truck Instead? Three reasons you may want to consider the Ford F-150

“The Ford GT has racing in its blood,” said Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, global product development, and chief technical officer. “The Competition Series was developed with the most hardcore track enthusiasts in mind, providing a tailored set of lightweight features and unique livery to match.”

So what’s different here from your run-of-the-mill $400,000 Ford GT and the equally impossible-to-own Ford GT ’66 Heritage Edition? Well, for one, the GT Competition Series is lighter. It’s lighter because Ford cut the thickness of the Gorilla Glass bulkhead in half and employed a Perspex acrylic engine hatch cover with a manual latch and carbon fiber prop rod. You know that question of whether a tree falling in the woods actually emits a sound if nobody is around to hear it? Well, do any of these developments really matter if you have a better chance of having to punch a Nazi in the face in 2017 than buying this thing? Is the Ford GT Competition Series even real? Are you real?

Also, the GT Competition Series gets standard carbon fiber wheels and titanium lug nuts and exhaust. Those are things!

The Competition Series is also distinguished by gloss carbon fiber racing stripe, mirror caps, A-pillars, and lower body trim. On the inside, Ebony Alcantara® suede on the seats, headliner, and instrument panel, any also something you will probably not see unless you’ve got a super rich friend or Ford brings this thing to the next auto show you visit.

Ford did not divulge price, release date, or production numbers, but it did say that the GT Competition Series will be available for all Ford GT model years, which gives you a slightly better chance of being able to own one someday. And by slightly better, try multiplying your current chance of owning one by zero and then divide that by the number of actual intelligent or qualified people in the current administration. Which is also zero.
