PickupTrucks.com Light-Duty Challenge Won by Chevy Silverado
In a fierce competition that pitted the all-new 2015 Ford F-150, the GMC Sierra 1500, the Ram 1500, the Toyota Tundra, and the Chevy Silverado 1500, it was the Silverado that came out tops in the PickupTrucks.com Light-Duty Challenge.
The 2015 Silverado 1500 with available 6.2-liter Ecotec3 V8 and 8-speed automatic transmission finished first, with the Sierra coming in second, the Ford F-150 taking bronze, the Ram 1500 relegated to fourth, and the Tundra placing dead last.
All five new light-duty pickups were put to the test for a full week, with five PickupTrucks.com editors evaluating them based on how they measured up in six key categories: Ergonomics, Tech & Entertainment, Suspension & Ride, Interior/Exterior, Visibility, Value, and Overall Performance.
“This was one of the most punishing and competitive tests we’ve ever done, and nobody was quite sure how the trucks were going to finish,” said PickupTrucks.com editor Mark Williams. “The Silverado with the new powertrain is an impressive example of both brute strength and refined comfort. No matter what kind of heavy loads we threw at the truck, the ride and road feel were smooth and confident.”
