Last year at the State Fair of Dallas, police officer Lonzo Anderson introduced himself to Chevy representatives and told them he’s put more than 375,000 miles on his 2000 Chevy Silverado. So one year later, Chevy decided to honor Anderson by naming him the Official Chevy Truck Legend of Texas.

By becoming a member of the Chevy Truck Legends customer appreciation program, Anderson will receive Truck Legends hats, decals, and other unique memorabilia. In addition, some participating dealerships will also offer discounted oil changes and free car washes to Truck Legends members.

The Chevy Truck Legends program is free to join, but potential members must own a Chevy truck with a minimum of 100,000 miles on the odometer. People who have purchased or leased at least two Chevy trucks in their life are also eligible to join this unique program.

Anderson’s 2000 Chevrolet Silverado was put on display at this year’s State Fair of Texas, which is also the location where Chevy decided to showcase its new 2017 Silverado HD with its redesigned 6.6-liter turbo-diesel V8 engine. Days before the fair began; Chevy actually set a Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Flag Pulled by a Moving Vehicle. The automaker accomplished this task by towing a 3,186-square-foot flag behind a new Silverado HD for four laps around Texas Motor Speedway.

“We know our customers rely on Chevrolet trucks for work and play, every day,” said Hugh Milne, Chevrolet Silverado marketing manager. “Events like the 2017 Silverado HD sneak peek at Texas Motor Speedway and the State Fair of Texas are our ways of thanking some of the customers who have made Chevy trucks such a success here in Texas and across the country.”
