The fact that electric vehicles are big in Colorado is not all that shocking

Chevrolet’s fleet of electric vehicles is really catching on throughout the country. During the first half of 2017, Chevrolet sold 10,932 Volt vehicles, an 11.5% sales increase when compared to the first half of 2016.

Chevy has also sold 7,592 of its Bolt EV models so far this year. What’s more, the Chevrolet Bolt hasn’t even been released in all 50 states yet!

One state where the Bolt is currently available is Colorado. In fact, the popularity of Chevrolet’s electric fleet is growing faster in Colorado than nearly anywhere else in the country.

Between 2015 and 2016, sales for the Chevy Volt grew by 58% nationwide. In Colorado, this growth was even more dramatic, with a 74% sales increase for the Volt between 2015 and 2016.

Due to this desire for more electric models, Colorado was selected to be one of the first states to receive the Chevrolet Bolt EV. The Bolt went on sale in Colorado nearly two months ago in May.

“Colorado has been (interested) for a long time,” said Fred Ligouri, Chevrolet’s manager of electric vehicle communication. “It certainly seems like the mindset is right. There’s a great amount of charging infrastructure, especially in the eastern half of the state, which makes it very viable, especially with the added range of the EV Bolt.”

The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV uses an advanced electric powertrian to travel up to 230 miles on a single charge. The Chevrolet Bolt EV first debuted in California and Oregon last December, quickly spreading to 18 additional states. Dealers in the remaining 30 states that have yet to receive the Bolt will be able to start selling the electric models later this summer, with deliveries projected sometime around August.
