First Opel Mokka X produced in Zaragoza, Spain

Production of the highly-anticipated Opel Mokka X got underway today in Zaragoza, Spain. To commemorate the momentous occasion, Executive Vice President and President, Europe Chairman, Management Board Opel Group GmbH Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann was on-hand to drive the first Mokka X off the line and speak at a townhall meeting.

Dr. Neumann also had a behind-closed-doors meeting with Javier Lambán, President of the Government of Aragon, in which he thanked Lambán for his support and revealed some of what the company has in store in the immediate future.

“The adaptation of the Spanish plant for the launch of the Opel Mokka and now the new Mokka X has been executed perfectly,” said Dr. Neumann. “This was achieved in a record time thanks to excellent planning, good coordination between all parties involved, and the commitment of all employees.”

“Opel is a vital part of the Spanish automotive industry and the region,” said Lambán. “We are happy that Opel, the number one private employer in Aragon, continues to invest here in the production of one of its most important models.”

The Mokka X represents one of 29 new models that will be introduced by Opel/Vauxhall between now and 2020. It replaces the previous-generation Mokka, which served as one of the most popular vehicles on the entire continent with more than 600,000 orders throughout Europe during its lifetime.

The new Mokka X will feature hot new technologies including OnStar, Intellilink, and optional AFL LED headlamps.
