The Ford Kuga Vignale that was revealed earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show was said to foretell the eventual addition of a production model to Ford’s high-luxury lineup. Well, guess what: Ford is totally adding a production model of the Kuga Vignale to its lineup. Bet you didn’t see that twist coming.

Available in Europe later this year, the Kuga Vignale will be offered in a pearlescent-metallic exterior hue known as Vignale Milano Grigio and with a Cashmere leather interior. It joins Ford’s ever-expanding Vignale lineup, which at present includes the Mondeo, S-MAX, and Edge.

The Mondeo Vignale first arrived in Europe in 2015, the S-MAX Vignale was released earlier this year, and the Edge Vignale is expected to arrive later this year. The Kuga Vignale is expected to arrive in late 2016.

“Our customers have high aspirations, and they want more from Ford. On some vehicles, our top-of-the-line Titanium specifications make up 70 per cent of all sales,” said Jim Farley, Chairman and CEO of Ford of Europe. “With Ford Vignale, we can offer them the absolute best of Ford in terms of luxury and personal service. That’s why we are expanding from Ford Mondeo Vignale to our flagship products Edge and S-MAX, with Kuga to come soon after.”

The Kuga will be offered with a number of different powertrain options, including multiple variations of the 1.5-liter EcoBoost and 2.0-liter TDCi diesel with different outputs and transmissions. SYNC 3 comes standard with the Kuga Vignale, as do technologies including Ford Active Noise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Blind Spot Information System.
