Rafael Nadal Wins a Mercedes-Benz, Would’ve Preferred a Kia
On Sunday, tennis superstar Rafael Nadal defeated Viktor Troicki 7-6 (3), 6-3 to win his third Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart, Germany. Not surprisingly, the winner of the Mercedes Cup is rewarded with a brand new Mercedes-AMG GT.
When asked by reporters about the car, Nadal—who is sponsored by Kia Motors—acquitted himself quite nicely.
“It’s not a Kia, but it’s still good,” Nadal said, earning a big laugh from the crowd.
Asked if he would drive the car it at home, Nadal admitted, “Without the cameras around, perhaps yes.” However, he was still (understandably) underwhelmed by the Mercedes’ garish tennis ball-themed paintjob.
“I don’t know if I can change the color, because the color is a little bit too much for me,” Nadal added.

If Nadal would like to win a Kia in recognition of his athletic prowess, he may need to switch sports.
Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry won a free Kia Sorento this year for being named the 2015 NBA Most Valuable Player. And NBA superstar LeBron James was given a free K900 luxury sedan, which led to him becoming the official spokesman for the vehicle.
So basically, if Nadal can make it to the NBA Finals, he’s pretty much guaranteed a free Kia.
And best of all, it probably won’t be Key Lime Green.
