The 2016 Ram 1500 has earned a four-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA

When it comes to safety, Ram doesn’t mess around. That’s why it comes as no surprise that the American truckmaker’s most popular pickup—the 2016 Ram 1500—earned a four star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The Ram 1500 earned the highest rating of five stars on the NHTSA’s side-impact crash testing, while earning four out of five stars in the frontal crash test and rollover test. It has a long list of standard safety features, including Advanced Multistage Front Airbags, Electronic Stability Control, an optional rear back-up camera, and speed control.

It also has four-wheel antilock disc brakes, hill-start assist, trailer-sway control, and an available fully integrated trailer-brake controller. Add these standard safety features with those that come standard with the Uconnect infotainment system, and you have one pickup truck that is sure to keep you safe.

Ram’s full-size pickup is currently the most popular model in the entire Fiat Chrysler lineup, which is understandable. So far this year, the Ram 1500 has earned a multitude of awards including the 2015 Rocky Mountain Truck of the Year; 2015 Best Full-Size Pickup for the Money; and one of Kelley Blue Book’s 2015 15 Best Family Cars.
