Ram Trucks and CMT Partner to Produce the “CMT Hometown Heroes” Television Special
Country music artists Darius Rucker, Brett Eldredge, and Chris Stapleton will travel back to their hometowns to volunteer during the one-hour special
The hour-long special will air on CMT on March 31
If country music artists are influenced by one thing above all else, then it would have to be their hometowns. Singers and songwriters in the country music industry constantly draw from their roots to craft their lyrics.
As such, it should come as no surprise that many of these artists look for ways to give back to their communities. With a little help from Ram Trucks, three country artists are set to do just that.
Ram Trucks and CMT are partnering to produce the “CMT Hometown Heroes” television special.
This one-hour television event is set to air on CMT on Friday, March 31 at 10 p.m. The special will follow the stories of three country music artists as they travel back to their hometowns to help local communities in the area.

Darius Rucker, former lead singer of Hootie & the Blowfish, will be heading to Charleston, South Carolina to lend a helping hand at the MUSC Children’s Hospital. When Rucker was a child, his mother worked as a nurse, so the hospital holds a special place in his heart. Rucker will help to remodel the teen room at the hospital, while later performing for the patients there.
Rucker has gone on to achieve success in his solo career, with hit singles like “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It” and his cover of Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel.” However, Blowfish fans will always remember the days when the Dolphins made Rucker cry.
Joining Rucker during the television special are country music stars Chris Stapleton and Brett Eldredge. Similarly to Rucker, Stapleton and Eldredge will be returning to their hometowns to help out their communities through various projects.
Stapleton will travel to Painstville, Kentucky to provide funding and tutelage for the music program of the high school he graduated from. The project will also include the construction of an outdoor stage, as well as the purchase of brand new band instruments.
Stapleton worked as a songwriter for artists like Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney before launching his own career. In 2015, Stapleton was named the CMA New Artist of the Year.
Meanwhile, Eldredge will make his way to Paris, Illinois, for which he named his second album after. Eldredge will help in refurbishing the Laker Stadium and baseball fields near the neighborhood where he grew up.
Eldredge was named the 2014 CMA New Artist of the Year. Since then, he has produced hit songs like “Raymond” and “Wanna Be That Song,” many of which have reached #1 on the U.S. Country Charts.
Assisting Rucker, Eldredge, and Stapleton during their journeys will be volunteers from Ram Nation, Ram’s grass-roots program. After all, if anyone believes in giving back to local communities as much as country artists do, it would have to be Ram.
