Ford Motor Company delivered a total of 6,337 vehicles in South Africa last month, down 11.7% year-over-year but up 2.6% from September. Retail sales totaled 4,968 vehicles, fleet sales totaled 1,164 vehicles, passenger vehicles totaled 3,391 sales, light commercial vehicles accounted for 2,941 sales, and Ford exports totaled 5,801 vehicles.

“The new vehicle market continues showing a level of resilience, but we expect the overall market to remain flat this year,” said Ford Motor Company South Africa Director of Marketing, Sales, and Service Neale Hill. “The disposable income of consumers is being negatively impacted by the high level of inflation, as well as the recent spate of fuel price hikes. With consumer and business confidence declining, customers are seeking more flexible and affordable finance solutions. Ford Options, which is provided through Ford Credit, fulfils that requirement with tailor-made finance packages to suit individual customers’ needs.”

Ford maintained a 12.4% market share in October, down just slightly from September and keeping year-to-date share at 12.5%.

Ranger was once again Ford’s biggest mover, accounting for 2,855 domestic sales and all of the automaker’s export sales, the latter of which amounted to a 38% year-over-year improvement. October’s result marked the fifth month in which the Ranger led South Africa in terms of overall sales and light commercial vehicle sales.

Also posting positive momentum in October was the Ford Everest, which posted its best sales month ever at 594 vehicles delivered. EcoSport logged its second-best sales month for 2017 at 1,047 vehicles delivered, and Fiesta sales totaled 855 vehicles.
