Watch Karma Strike with a Vengeance in Redneck Road Rage Video

This YouTube sensation, entitled "Redneck Road Rage / Instant Karma," suggests that the universe does not particularly care for your highway asshattery and will punish you for it unmercifully.

The saying goes that karma is a pejorative term for a woman that is derived from a word referencing a female dog. The notion that you get back from the universe exactly what you put into it may be never be as clearly demonstrated as it is in the YouTube video “Redneck Road Rage / Instant Karma,” uploaded Wednesday by user Florida Driver. The quickness and ferocity with which karmic reciprocity is unleashed in this video is almost enough evidence in and of itself to repel all belief in the philosophical idea that the universe does not care about us and sees us as insignificant. Even Dr. Manhattan would probably react to this video by saying, “Well, it served that guy right.”

As you’ll see, a particularly warm and considerate chap makes it a point to follow the driver closely on a two-lane blacktop somewhere on SR 41 in Tampa. After being tailgated for a while, our videographer whips out her phone and begins filming her pursuer in the Ford Super Duty. Of course, taking your eyes off of the road/using your phone while behind the wheel is not what we’d call safe highway protocol, but were it not for this decision, we’d miss what may be one of the most glorious examples of the universe giving a particularly intolerable asshat his what-for.

Greatest offense in this entire video? Shooting in portrait.

After Florida Driver passes the trucks preventing the guy in the 4×4 from passing her on the right, pickup-truck-guy zooms up to pass, but not before slowing down long enough to flip the driver off and flash a winning smile for the world to see.

No possible way this could come back to haunt me.

And then he eats it in the most spectacular of fashions.

He swerves across the two lanes, jumps a median, and careens wildly into a ditch. Thankfully, nobody is hurt here, which is precisely why Florida Driver (and, for that matter, the rest of the world) is able to laugh at the folly of this camo-wearing homunculus.

Per the YouTube video’s description:

“He initially fled the scene of the accident, but thanks to this video he has been caught and charged. Massive props to the Sheriffs [sic] Department and most especially the Highway Patrol who responded to the scene. This moron could have easily killed somebody with his moronic behavior, and my laughing at the end would have been replaced with tears. Needless to say though, I’ve never seen Karma come back so fast.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be the internet if a bunch of net-sleuths didn’t take to the YouTube page of the video and leave comments that use a lot of pejorative, sexist language because if there’s anything YouTube commenters know, it’s how to be classy. Hopefully, people who feel like the Internet is their personal playground for faceless fat-shaming and misogynist nonsense will get their own hefty doses of karma sooner rather than later. Because karma, as you know, is the title of a Roald Dahl story.

Redneck Road Rage may be enough to suggest that the universe is aware of our presence and that it does indeed believe in a sense of justice. It may be enough to combat the idea that our existence is something that only humanity acknowledges as important. Or maybe in the end it’s just another example why you shouldn’t be a dick on the highway.
