Nissan Altima Contributes to Renault-Nissan Alliance SuccessFor the fifth consecutive year, the Renault-Nissan Alliance boasted record sales after tallying 8,264,821 vehicles in 2013, enjoying considerable gains in both the United States and China. The 2.1 percent sales increase over 2012’s figures includes the success of the Russian AVTOVAZ brand, and together, Renault/Nissan/AVTOVAZ vehicles account for one of every 10 vehicles sold around the world.

“Strong demand in the world’s top markets more than offset anemic growth and declines elsewhere,” said Renault-Nissan Chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn in a press release. “We will always experience periods of regional instability, but we remain bullish: The auto industry is a long-term growth story – and the Renault-Nissan Alliance is well positioned to continue to play a major role in all major segments globally.”

Nissan shipped 5,102,979 units in 2013, and nearly half of that came from two of the biggest automotive markets in the world: China (1,266,167) and the United States (1,248,421).

Strong demand for vehicles such as the Altima, Rogue, Versa, and LEAF resulted in Nissan’s record performance in various global markets. Renault-Nissan Alliance sales (including AVTOVAZ) in Russia, where the brands currently hold a 29.6 percent market share, accounted for an additional 821,404 models sold for 2013. The Renault-Nissan Alliance also holds an impressive chunk of the market share in France (612,885 for 28.4 percent) and Mexico (285,650 for 26.9 percent).
