Rob Dyrdek and Chevy Sonic setting another world record

If hearing Rob Dyrdek and the Chevrolet Sonic together sounds familiar, it’s because the former professional skateboarder and Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory star set an automotive first back in 2011 when he performed a 360-degree kick-flip in the Sonic.  If you liked that feat of equal parts bravery/stupidity, then you’re in for a treat, as Dyrdek and the Sonic are at it again; except this time, they’re breaking world records. GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS®, to be exact.

Earlier this week, Dyrdek got behind the wheel of a 2014 Chevy Sonic and successfully broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD® for the Farthest Reverse Ramp Jump by a Car.  The record jump, which measured 89 feet 3¼ inches, is the longest backward leap by any vehicle ever, and Dyrdek couldn’t think of any better car for the job.

“The Sonic is a great car for firsts,” said Dyrdek, in a press release. “I have always been a Chevy guy, so when we decided we wanted to set a Guinness World Record for the finale of “Fantasy Factory,” using the Sonic again just made sense.”
